Our beekeeping experience is designed to be fully hands-on so that you can get up close to a hive of working honey bees, learn about their life cycle, and understand more about how honey is produced. It's an ideal taster session if you have ever thought about keeping bees, or if you are just interested to learn more.
Led by experienced beekeepers, you will start with a short introduction before being kitted out in a protective beesuit and moving on to look at the hives. We will show you how the bees organise their colony, store their honey and perform different roles within the hive.
These events are run in very small groups to allow us to go at a comfortable pace for everyone. Sessions typically last around 3-4 hours, with breaks for refreshments provided. We supply all beesuits and equipment, just bring your own wellies.
These experiences will be held on Saturdays throughout the beekeeping season which is April - August. Over 18s only. Not suitable if you have a known severe anaphylactic reaction to bee stings.
